From all of us at All Asia Affairs (AAA), hello and welcome to our new site. Wherever and however you have heard about us, we thank you for visiting and connecting with us. Over the next few months we will be publishing articles that we hope will be of great value to you, but we also seek your patience as we scale our pool of experts and contributors from across the region to expand our coverage of Asian affairs for you.
At AAA we call our readers Members because we seek a collaborative relationship with each and everyone of you. None of us in this era and particularly in this region will ever have a monopoly of wisdom over any domain of knowledge and hence it is incumbent on us to work together and reach across the aisle (or in this case, the crowd) for collective wisdom. As part of this collaborative effort AAA invites anyone to pitch to us stories, arguments, analyses, and opinions about Asian affairs of import. However, we ask that all pitches satisfy at least one of three requirements: (1) It seeks to clarify an issue with a view to action (2) It addresses medium-to-long term trends and is not event specific (3) It expresses a reasonable prediction of things to come.
Our unique editorial policy at AAA is intended to address the present lack of actionable insights in the landscape of online media. Our Members want to be kept informed about the issues in quick fashion and across time, and how to respond if their professional and personal lives depended on it. Our Members are decision makers at all levels – public, private, non-governmental, freelancers, students – and it is the vision of All Asia Affairs to be the pre-eminent guide to Asia as it grows and finds its place at the core of global affairs.
